After rebounding from a devastating robbery, Corey "Peanut" Adams and his girlfriend, Cookie, are ready to leave Memphis behind for a fresh start. But their plans are shattered when Peanut catches the attention of corrupt cop Detective Cornelius "Night Stick" Salmon.

Night Stick is a dirty officer with a dark obsession, and he takes everything Peanut and Cookie have. His fixation on Cookie leads him to strike a twisted deal—her freedom in exchange for becoming his woman—while Peanut is sent to prison on trumped-up robbery charges.

But fate intervenes when Peanut is mistakenly released from prison. Fleeing Memphis, he lands in Raleigh, North Carolina, broke and alone. Forced to rely on his street smarts, Peanut schemes, hustles, and fights his way back to power.

Once the dust settles, Peanut returns to Memphis with one goal in mind: rescue Cookie and bring Night Stick down.
